Christine Galland’s story is an inspiring example of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. In this article, we’ll explore Christine’s journey, her challenges and successes, and how she inspires those around her. This is our latest story.
Christine, aged 53, has been passionate about dance since her early childhood. After graduating from university, she decided to leave everything behind to dedicate herself to teaching dance.
However, at the age of 45, her career was abruptly interrupted by a cardiovascular accident. She lost much of her mobility, her legs weakened, and her left arm became almost immobile. Discouraged by her condition, she isolated herself for several months until the day her sister took her to see a performance by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
This experience rekindled her passion for dance and inspired her to try dancing again during her rehabilitation period. She discovered a new way to move her body, which reignited her desire to live. For Christine Galland, not all was lost.
However, Christine faced discrimination and marginalization during her attempts to re-enter the job market, even in roles requiring little movement. It was then that she decided to return to her true calling: teaching dance.
She started giving dance classes to people who had suffered a cardiovascular accident at the YMCAs in Montreal. Her goal is to share her passion with her students while helping them regain some mobility.
