Often, summer is known as the “festival season.” Yet in Quebec, numerous events allow those with a strong festival spirit to enjoy winter events that satisfy their cultural appetite. Here is a selection of 7 winter festivals you must not miss!

Igloofest

Locations: Montréal, Québec, and Gatineau
Igloofest is the quintessential winter festival. This massive outdoor electro party takes place over four weekends every year on the Quai Jacques-Cartier in Montréal.
For 2025, the event runs from January 16 to February 8 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Regulars come dressed in creative winter attire—from pom-pom beanies and retro overalls to neon colors and ski goggles. In addition, special editions will be held in Québec (from March 6 to 8 at Place Jean-Béliveau) and Gatineau (from February 13 to 15 at Place des Festivals Zibi).

For foodies, families, and downtown enthusiasts, Montréal en lumière is a not-to-be-missed winter highlight.
The 26th edition will be held from February 27 to March 9, 2025, in the Quartier des spectacles. The Place des Festivals will transform entirely, complete with an ice trail for skating, a Ferris wheel, and a slide—perfect for family fun in the snow! The event also showcases the best of Montréal’s culinary scene with over 60 “Bonnes Tables Air France” and international chefs from eight different countries. A rich musical program includes performances by Inhaler (featuring Bono’s son from U2), Pierre Lapointe, rap artist Souldia, Leif Vollebekk, the electro-pop duo Milk & Bone, Jonathan Roy, and a special evening titled “La Marche de l’empereur” with Thierry Larose, P’tit Belliveau, blesse, Lysandre, DJ Pingouin, and other special guests.
