On July 28, 2025, Stonepeak, a leading global infrastructure investor, officially announced the launch of JouleTerra, a new European platform dedicated to aggregating strategic land for the development of solar, wind, and storage projects.
This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for decarbonized energy infrastructure and strengthen Europe’s energy security, while supporting climate neutrality goals.
A Strategy Focused on Connectivity and Scale
JouleTerra’s mission is to secure and develop strategic sites across Europe to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy projects. By leveraging local partnerships and a long-term approach, the platform seeks to:
- Enhance grid connectivity to better integrate renewable energy.
- Accelerate the development of large-scale solar and wind farms.
- Support battery storage projects to stabilize energy systems.
According to Stonepeak, JouleTerra will also act as a lever to reduce delays linked to permits and infrastructure, working closely with governments and local communities.
Supporting Europe’s Climate Goals
The European Union is targeting at least a 55% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. With JouleTerra, Stonepeak positions itself as a key player in achieving these goals, providing strong financial and operational expertise to rapidly scale projects.
By combining innovation, connectivity, and sustainability, JouleTerra emerges as a strategic platform for the energy transition while contributing to Europe’s energy sovereignty.
