The Victoire de Montréal delivered a stellar performance on Saturday afternoon at Place Bell, securing a 6-2 victory against the New York Sirens in front of 10,172 spectators. After a dominant first period, the Montreal team withstood their opponents’ attacks before regaining control in the third period.
A Historic Start
Right from the opening faceoff, head coach Kori Cheverie’s squad made history in the PWHL by becoming the first team to score four goals in a single first period. Lina Ljungblom, Abby Boreen, Mariah Keopple, and Jennifer Gardiner led the offense, setting the Victoire on the path to success.
“I loved our first period, especially after two weeks without a game,” analyzed Cheverie. “We had a dip in the second, but the team responded well in the third.”
The Sirens’ Second-Period Push
The Sirens attempted a comeback in the second period, increasing their intensity and replacing goaltender Corinne Schroeder with Kayle Osborne. They dominated the period with 14 shots to 4 and scored twice in less than four minutes through Ella Shelton and Jessie Eldridge.
Despite this pressure, the Victoire managed to contain their opponents’ offensive surge and regained momentum in the third period, with goals from Mikyla Grant-Mentis and Marie-Philip Poulin in a span of 39 seconds to secure the win.

An Impressive Winning Streak
With this sixth consecutive victory, the Victoire (9-3-1-2, 34 points) extends its lead at the top of the standings, now holding an eight-point advantage over the Minnesota Frost, whom they will face on Tuesday in Laval.
The game was also marked by an incident during the U.S. national anthem, where some spectators booed before a wave of applause took over.
This match demonstrates the Victoire’s strength, as they continue to showcase outstanding form since the start of the year, reinforcing their status as serious contenders for the championship.
