AfroBasket 2025: Luanda Set to Host Africa’s Premier Basketball Showdown

From August 12 to 24, 2025, Luanda and Namibe will proudly host the 31st edition of FIBA AfroBasket, Africa’s premier men’s basketball championship. Luanda will welcome the final stages of the tournament at the iconic Kilamba Arena (12,700 seats), while the group phase will unfold across Luanda (Groups B & D) and Namibe (Groups A & C).

🏀 Luanda: Africa’s Basketball Capital in 2025

The group draw took place in Luanda on May 9, 2025, dividing the 16 top African national teams into four evenly matched groups. Angola, a true basketball stronghold, will be hosting the tournament for the fourth time (after 1989, 1999, and 2007), underscoring its strategic and cultural position in African sports.

🔥 All Eyes on the Court

The competition brings together the elite of African basketball: Tunisia (defending champions), Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Uganda, Mali, Rwanda, Madagascar, Guinea, Libya, Cape Verde, and others.

From August 12–17, the group stage will feature 24 action-packed games, followed by the knockout rounds from August 18–24 in Luanda. Spectators can expect fierce matchups, unforgettable plays, and the unmistakable roar of passionate fans.
